ALLOY
A mix of two or more chemical elements where one element is a metal. Most
metals used in jewellery making are alloys, including gold – only 24 carat gold is
considered pure (though in reality there are a small percentage of impurities in any
gold). Elements are combined to produce qualities for purpose eg. strengthening.
